Charles Alton Coker – age 69 passed away February 8, 2010 in Liberty. Charlie was born in Daisetta Oct. 26, 1940 the son of the late Lawrence Alton Coker and Colon Renfro Coker. A graduate of Daisetta High School he went on to first work at Hull Telephone Company as a lineman and then onto Arco Oil, as a boilermaker. Charlie was a perfectionist in his craft. He also enjoyed being in nature, hunting, fishing or just being outdoors. Charlie also volunteered for the Daisetta Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James Coker and a sister Betty Coker Tantan. He leaves behind his beloved wife of forty-two years Mary (Gartner) Coker of Daisetta, his children, Charles Michael Coker and wife Teri Ann of Baytown, Pamela Dawn Cannon and husband Gordon of Rydal, GA, William David Gartner and wife Amy of Palestine, Allan Wayne Gartner and wife Lori of Daisetta, and James Curt Gartner and wife Cristal of Hardin, brother Donald Coker of Zapata, sister Dorothy Tantan of Liberty. In addition he leaves nineteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday from five o’clock till eight o’clock in the evening at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held eleven o’clock in the morning Thursday February 11, 2010 with Bro. Lonnie Jordan to officiate, burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Daisetta.
