Verda Mae Harris, age 92 of Liberty, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2014 in Liberty with her loving family by her side.  Verda was born November 15, 1921 in Homer, Louisiana, daughter of the late Archie Boe Elliott Holland and Mary Emma McCravy Holland.  She attended New London High School and was a purchasing agent for Kersting Hospital.  Verda was a member of the Liberty Eastern Star Chapter 634 where she was a past Matron.  She loved to cook, was an active member of Heights Baptist Church and was the Sunday school secretary for well over thirty years.  Verda and her late husband loved to travel and camp.  They visited Big Bend many times and even drove all the way to Alaska for a trip.  She will be missed by all.
Verda was preceded in death by her parents, husband; James Ross Harris Jr, sisters; Emma Genettie Jimmerson, Valeria Ferrell and brother; Robert Dale Holland.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son; Jim Harris of Liberty, daughter; Vanita Vance of College Station, TX, grandchildren; James Ray Harris Jr of Austin, TX, Paul Harris of Mount Belvieu, TX, Austin Vance of College Station, TX, Caroline Vance of College Station, TX, great-grandchildren; Michael Wells of Liberty and Preston Harris of Mount Belvieu, TX.
