Bertia Inez Surrey, 88, of Crosby, Texas passed away, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 1, 1929 in Woodson, Texas to John Boling and Millie Parker Boling.

Bertia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a Master’s Degree in 1954. She was a school teacher for over 30 years. Bertia loved being a teacher and valued education. She was a creative cook, often swapping ingredients to make the recipe healthier. In her spare time, she loved to watch Fox news, read fiction books and drink coffee.  She was most passionate about her beloved husband and she truly loved being by his side. Her infectious, beautiful smile will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Bertia was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Loretta, Patsi and Louise; and her brother Ralph. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 62 years Edward Surrey; daughter Susan Poskus; and her son Edward Surrey, III.
