Dorothy Doris Davis Neely- age 85 passed away Tuesday December 19, 2017 at Magnolia Nursing Home. Dorothy was born in Cedar Bayou, Texas July 24, 1932 the daughter of the late William Henry Davis and Elsie Mae Clawson Davis. Dorothy loved spending time with her family most of all. She was passionate about her animals as well, after her schnauzer passed away Dorothy adopted a black cat that she named Silly Willey. She fed this cat like clockwork twice a day, and if the family had to take over the feeding she was sure to check on proper feeding times. Unfortunately, no one however knew who the cat belonged too. Dorothy was generous, kind, and loving. She enjoyed travelling with her friends to shows and taking trips. A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, she worked for over thirty years at Seaberg Rice Co. as a bookkeeper. At the age of eighty-two Dorothy was still getting up to go to work. She was also a devoted member of Heights Baptist Church in Liberty and member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Besides her parents Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband M.J. “Jack” Neely, her son William “Bill” Marshall Neely, brothers William Ralph Davis, John Sterling Davis, and John Keith Morrow, as well as her sisters Nora Lee Davis Hames and Lula Mae Morrow Danos. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Cathy Miller and husband Chris, daughter in law Lynn Neely, and her six grandchildren Tamara Breeland (Robert), Angie Vargas (Andrew), Chris Caninenberg (Kristin), Lamar Bean, Jessica Parker (Derek), and Laura Clements (Jon). She also leaves ten great grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
