James Edna McAnally, age 97 of Liberty, passed away on September 5, 2017 at Magnolia Place Health Care in Liberty.  Edna was born on October 17, 1919 in Magnolia, Texas, daughter of the late Edwin Arcenaux and Nannie Hicks, she had one brother and three sisters.  Edna grew up in Oklahoma Community near Magnolia, TX and married Earl McAnally on November 29, 1941.  They lived in Raywood, Texas where he worked at the American Rice Dryer and together they ran the Texaco Gas Station.  She loved to visit with friends and work puzzles.  But most of all, she loved her family and grandchildren. 

 

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters; Lilian Smith, Doris Roland and brother; Benton Arcenaux.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory one sister, Nan Talley of Colorado; her two children, James McAnally and wife Bonnie of Beaumont, TX, Joyce Meche and husband Allen of Liberty, TX. Five grandchildren, John Meche and wife Nikki of Spring Branch, TX; Randy Meche and wife Memorie of Liberty, TX; Vicky Noble and husband Michael of Liberty, TX; Betsey McAnally of Houston, TX; Stephanie McAnally Yates of Beaumont, TX.  Eleven great grandchildren, Kaci Rhine and husband Kris of Liberty, TX; Kara Spear and husband Alan of Liberty, TX; Stormi NgChee and husband Justin of Crosby, TX; Ryan Meche and Kayla Beran of Liberty, TX; Joshua Remmers and Heather Kinnison of Liberty, TX; Ross Meche and Kimberly Eubanks of Atascocita, TX; Alexis Meche and Brandon Broom of Dayton, TX; Allison Meche of College Station, TX; Jacob Stelly of College Station, TX; Connor Yates of Beaumont, TX; Blake Yates of Beaumont, TX. 

Seven great-greatgrandchildren, Cash and Stella NgChee, Ellie Rhine, Aurora Remmers, Eli Spear and Axel and August Broom.  Edna’s famous quote she always would repeat on our many family gatherings on Sundays, “And to think, I started all this!”

Services for James Edna McAnally will be Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10am at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.  Burial will be held Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 1pm at Willow Creek Cemetery in Tomball, TX.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 9am to 10am in the chapel.
