Iris Marie Worthy Threlkeld, age 92 of Liberty, left us on September 2, 2017 in Dayton, TX.  Iris was born July 28, 1925 in Moss Bluff, TX, daughter of the late James Earl Worthy Sr and Maudie Claricey Moss Worthy.  She attended Shiloh Schools and graduated from Liberty High School.  After graduating, she moved to Houston to work, where she met and married Gene Threlkeld on April 4, 1926.  They had two children, Dennis Eugene Threlkeld and Janet Marie Threlkeld Williams.  Iris was employed by Hughes Tools, LaFrance Textiles and Austin Industrial throughout her working years.  In between working, she was a wonderful mother to her children.  She enjoyed bowling, fishing, shrimping and she especially loved to dance.  She was one of the sweetest yet strongest women you could ever meet.  Iris was a strong willed, smart, witty and independent woman that made people love her the minute they met her.  She loved her family.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; James Earl Worthy Jr, Gene Odell Worthy, sisters; Lola Estelle Worthy Rich, Frances Maurice Worthy Land and granddaughter; Wendy Kay Threlkeld Watts.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son; Dennis Threlkeld of Liberty, Janet Threlkeld Williams and husband Bill of Mount Belvieu, TX, grandsons; Reggie Threlkeld and wife Laura of LaPorte, TX, Adam Williams of Mount Belvieu, TX, great-grandchildren; Amanda and husband Michael, Jared and wife Tonya, Cody, Lauren, Brylee, Kelsey, Ryker and great-great-grandchildren; Maci, Kylee, C.J., Easton and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank the devoted staff of Brighter Days Assisted Living in Dayton and the Tri-Care Hospice staff for their continued care for Iris.
