Jewel Edna Hard, 73, of Hull, Texas passed away, Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Beaumont. She was born June 27, 1944 in Houston, Texas the daughter of the late, Dorley Mathews and Dorothy Holmes Mathews.

Jewel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had many hobbies but especially enjoyed camping trips with her family. She loved fishing, crabbing and tending to her flower garden, but was most passionate about her family. She cherished her role as grandmother. For over thirty-five years, she worked as the company bookkeeper and accountant for the family owned Hard’s Marine Service.

Jewel was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Robert Mathews. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Charles L. Hard of Hull; her daughters, Robin Vickery and her husband Steve of Cleveland; Monie Hard Chandler and her husband JD of Liberty; and her brother David Mathews. In addition, she leaves behind, her beloved grandchildren; Craig Vickery; Alexandra Vickery, Baylee Chandler, Kamdyn Chandler, Abigail Vickery, Kolstyn Chandler and Kensleigh Chandler.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Craig Vickery, Jake Clay, Shayne Carter, Wade Fuller, Brian Sellers, Cordrey Sellers and Willie Frank Martin. Pastor Carlton Bailey of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Moss Hill will be officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis Liberty, Texas 77575. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 10am at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Moss Hill. A graveside service will be held at 2pm at Brookside Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
