Tribute

Kelly Lynn Smart, 65, of Liberty, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in Baytown, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 16, 1958, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Molly Lee Hebert Cormier and the late Kenneth Wayne Webster, Sr.

Kelly’s journey was marked by dedication and hard work. She graduated from Westbury High School in Houston, Texas, with the class of 1977. At 14, she began her first job at Shipley Donuts, laying the foundation for her strong work ethic. Later, she spent many years as a secretary at Smart’s Armature Works, Inc. in Liberty, Texas, working alongside her husband, Red. She also worked for the Liberty County Appraisal District and the old KPXE radio station, known now as KSHN.

Described as loving, sweet, fiery, and delightfully gullible, Kelly’s vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She found joy in caring for others and had an infectious laugh. Kelly’s distinctive walk and laugh were as unique as she was. She cherished moments spent dancing and bowling with her husband, Red, and was renowned as the best nanny anyone could ask for.

Kelly found solace in simple pleasures, such as drinking her Miller Light, smoking Marlboro cigarettes, and watching Judge Judy or other court TV shows. She lived life fully and on her terms.

Kelly was preceded in death by her father; her beloved husband Charles “Red” Smart; and her stepfather Davis “Snake” Cormier. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her mother, Molly Cormier of Houston; her daughter, Priscilla Lea Frazier and significant other Milam Dowdell of Wallisville; her grandchildren, Alyssa and Abby Frazier, Derek and Courtney Smart; her great-granddaughter, Aspyn Elliott; her siblings Kenneth Webster, Jr. and wife Katherine Catmull of Austin, Kyle Webster and wife Mariela of Texas City, and Kimberly Burciaga and husband Lewis of Cypress, along with numerous other loving relatives and friends.
