A flood of memories come back to me as I read this about Mickey ( as I knew him). He was truly my best friend growing up on 1405 S. Main, Henderson, Texas. His house or his grandmother's house was two blocks away. I still see him mowing that yard with a push reel mower!! He had to finish mowing the entire yard before he could play. He never complained about that chore, but understood what he had to do before playing. We played everything mostly related to sports, baseball, he was really good, pole vaulting, football, and even boat races. Boat races consisted of choosing a wooden stick and put it in the road gutter on a rainy summer day. Mickey, my brother Mike and I would race those "boats" all the way down the gutter to the finish line. One had to be there to appreciate the fun with Mickey. He was such a lovable soul, true friend and buddy! He played on our Little League team - the Clendenen Yankees, coached by my dad Earl Adams, which was like a dad to him. I can see him now, batting left handed, throwing left handed and having the time of his life, as we all did! He was a very good athlete, doing anything he set his mind to do. He and I would laugh so much at the little things in life. We'd laugh till our sides hurt, then laugh some more. It got us in trouble on more than one occasion - but that never stopped us from laughing. Larry Wiltse, Mickey Chambers, Mike and Pat Adams share some great memories from that neighborhood. Rest in Peace, my friend, and save a spot for me, like you always did, beside you in Heaven! Love you, Man - Pat Adams
