Welcome to the memorial page for

Mildred (Morgan) Smith

June 11, 2017

Midge (Mildred Morgan) Smith left her family with a little smile at noon on Sunday, June 11 in Carmichael, California. She departed just shy of her 94th birthday on July 6 and her 75th wedding anniversary on July 23. Her husband, son, and granddaughters – Spencer Harold Smith, Lawrence H. Smith, Phoebe E. Smith, and Katherine M. Smith – are sad but joyful that she passed on without pain or sorrow. Midge was born in 1923 to Katie and Jack Morgan in Daisetta, Texas, was salutatorian of her Hull-Daisetta High School class, and married classmate Harold in 1942. She worked in the shipyard in Beaumont, Texas during World War II while Harold served in the Navy in the South Pacific, and gave birth to Larry in Corvallis, Oregon where Harold attended college after the war. They lived in Mississippi, Atlanta, Washington, DC, and Denver during Harold's career with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and moved to Albuquerque and subsequently to Carmichael in retirement. Midge lived an exemplary Christian life that inspired all around her. A family graveside service will be held on June 21 at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas. Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas has been entrusted with the local arrangements. Condolences and memories can be shared online at www.allisonfuneralservice.com.
