Richard Kent Campbell, age 57, died at St. Luke’s hospital in Houston, TX surrounded by family after a brief illness.

Richard was a lifelong resident of Liberty, TX. He was born April 7, 1960 to Grover and Patricia Leonard Campbell. Richard graduated from Liberty High School where he was active in the FFA. After graduating in 1978, Richard began working in the oilfield for Parker Well Service and TRICO before deciding to open his own company, Campbell Fishing Tools in 2001.  Richard ran a successful business for fifteen years which allowed him to serve the community. He especially enjoyed volunteering and sponsoring TVE where he helped children of all ages with their animals. Richard was an Elk’s member for twenty-five years and recently received the Silver Circle of Giving Award for contributing over $10,000. 

Outside of work, Richard enjoyed spending time with friends and family.  He was a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World Championship cooking team, Armadillo Junction where his main responsibility was “public relations”.  He was an avid sports fan and loved the Texans, Astros, and the Longhorns. His hobbies included golf, hunting, and raising cattle. One of the highlights of Richard’s life was being a Dad and PawPaw.

Richard was preceded in death by his father; Grover Campbell, paternal grandparents; Sam and Reba Campbell, maternal grandparents; Henry and Dorothy Leonard.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of eight years; Jeanne Campbell of Liberty, daughters; Rachele Fregia and husband Jacob of Liberty, Candice Head and husband Tyler of Liberty, sons; Lin Chaney and wife Kaci of Oklahoma, Levi Nash and wife Mandi of Liberty, Charles Campbell of LaPorte, Chad Campbell of LaPorte, mother; Pat Leonard Campbell of Liberty, brother; Greg Campbell and wife Margie of Liberty, sister; Debbie Fregia and husband Larry of Liberty, grandchildren, Alexis, Konner, Baby Mason, Skyler, Eric, Taylor, Camren, Brynlee and Haven and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Richard Kent Campbell will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 10am at First United Methodist Church in Liberty with burial to follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 5pm to 8pm at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.  Condolences can be sent online to www.allisonfuneralservice.com.
