Charles Donald Taylor Sr. age 84 passed away Friday September 21, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Charles was born December 11, 1933 in Daisetta, Texas the son of the late Henry Doyle Taylor and Lydia Mae Cochran Taylor. Charles was always willing to lend a hand, he enjoyed wood working, tinkering, and mowing his grass. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He retired from Dow Chemical after seventeen years as a Chemical Operator and moved to Hardin in 1996. Prior to his retirement he worked for numerous years as a self-employed flooring contractor in La Place, Louisiana as well as in Liberty. Charles served in the US Army from 1956-1958, and remained friends, and attended reunions with his fellow soldiers he served alongside. Charles volunteered for twenty-years to help run Hardin Senior Center in Hardin and served as Deacon at Heights Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas.  

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters Laura Mae Tidwell, Dorothy Nell Hillburn, and Davey Lea Odom. In addition, he was preceded in death by his two step-sisters: Mary Alice Newkirk, Juanita Gunter and a step-brother R.B. Atkinson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of sixty years Mary S. Taylor of Hardin, a son Charles Donald Taylor Jr. and his wife Thanh of Katy, Texas, daughter Belinda Reine and husband Barry of La Place, LA., step-sister Leona Reneau, a sister-in-law who was more of a surrogate daughter Elaine Fregia of Danbury, Texas, six grandchildren: Alisha Reine; Ashley Sellars; Katie Reine; Spencer Taylor; Ryan Taylor; and Trevor Taylor. In addition he leaves his six great grandchildren: Mason Silvestri; Kylee Silvestri; Maiah Silvestri; Myles Sellars; Knox Sellars; and Rowan Sellars.

Visitation for Charles will be held Tuesday September 25, 2018 from 5-8PM at Heights Baptist Church, Jefferson Dr. Liberty, Texas. Funeral Services will be held 10AM Wednesday September 26, 2018 at the church with burial to follow in Hardin Chapel Cemetery. Memories can be shared online at www.allisonfuneralservice.com.
