Tribute

Christine LaNell Ensminger Sampson, 88 of Houston, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10pm at her home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11am with a viewing one hour prior to the service located at Westbury Church of Christ in Houston. David Yasko will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin at 3:30pm.

LaNell was born March 27, 1930 in Sweetwater, Texas. She graduated from Iredell high school in 1947. LaNell went to University of Houston nursing school, then taught other nurses there. She married the love of her life Harrison Barrett Sampson in 1953 and resided in Houston, Texas. She also worked at Herman Hospital for thirty years and Park Plaza for twelve more. She was a devout Christian woman who not only raised her own children but fostered several more. She was very involved in women’s ministries including Bible studies with prisoners and others in the community. In 1981 she and Barrett moved to Liberty, Texas near where Barrett was raised. She moved back to Houston when her husband passed.

Lanell is preceded in death by her husband Harrison Barrett Sampson; her parents E.H. Ensminger and Lillian Elliot Ensminger; her daughter Sherry Lynn Sampson; brothers Harold Ensminger, Ellioit Ensminger, Donald Ensminger; sister Evelyn Ensminger Carter and husband John Carter; and her niece Candice Carter.

She is survived by her children Daneille Illgen and husband Robert, Barry Sampson, Kelly Sampson, Wesley Sampson and wife Carolee, Rachelle Harmon; Grandchildren James, Rachel, and husband Ryan, Brandon, Audrey, Ashley, Benjamin, Kelli Rayn and husband David, Holli, Randi, Caley, Sierra, Jenna, Lexi, Landry, Taylor, Hannah, Rikki; Great Grandchildren; R.J., Reyna, Marcela, Gwendolyn, Hayden, Carson, Brevin, Daegan; sister-in-laws Mona Ensminger, Nora Ensminger; our other mother Wynell; Dawn and family; Donnie, Melissa and family; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support the Lifeline Chaplaincy or Medina Children’s home.
