Tribute

Floyd V. Peace, 91, of Liberty, Texas passed peacefully from this life on Friday, March 15, 2019 after a tough battle with heart failure. He was born on April 8, 1927 to Henry Martin Peace and Bertha Elizabeth Cheney Peace in Colmesneil, Texas. Floyd eased into the next glorious life quietly as Gilbert Jones was reading 23 Psalms to him by his bedside.

Floyd, formerly of Colmesneil, Texas came to work in Liberty in 1945 to make a step up with the Texas Highway Dept. where he was a draftsman Engineer Tech V, retiring at the age of 55. He made a good life here and participated in both of his children’s activities and lives and enjoyed his friends, scouting, and neighborhood parties, church, Masons and deer hunting.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, settlers of a community named Emilee or later known as Colmesneil, and spent his entire youth on the farm. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Margie James Peace; his son Kenneth Peace of Liberty; his three step-brothers; two natural brothers, Martin Peace of Irving, Texas, and Wayne Peace of Pasadena, Texas and son-in-law Bobby Kersh.

He leaves behind his daughter, Glenda Kersh of Liberty; three grandchildren Robert Kersh and wife Christina of Hardin, Amanda Key and husband Josh of Liberty and Jeannette Roy; his great-grandchildren Kenny, Christiane, Travis, and Taylor.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 5pm – 8pm on Monday, March 18, 2019 in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A funeral service will be held 10am, March 19, 2019 at Allison Funeral Service with a Masonic ceremony by Liberty Lodge AF & AM #48 with our dear friend and chaplain, Jon Cregor of Kindred Hospice officiating. A masonic graveside ceremony will be held 1:30pm at Ebenezer Cemetery on 256 E. in Colmesneil.

Floyd had several people who helped make his last days memorable and enjoyable: Charles Rodgers, neighbor, of Liberty; his caregiver Darlene Wheeler, whom he adored, neighbors, Meals on Wheels, and the team who took care of him from Hospice and his dear friend Dolly, who never failed to call and encourage him.
