Gladys Ellen (Tanner) Erskins

Gladys Ellen Erskins, 94, of Liberty, Texas passed away, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Magnolia Place Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. Gladys was born to the late Bruce Tanner and Verna Ratcliff Tanner on May 28, 1923 in Orange, Texas.

Gladys was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She was a strong and independent woman who worked in a defense plant during World War II.  Gladys enjoyed sewing, gardening, and caring for her home. She also delighted in her many arts and crafts such as making clocks, furniture, porcelain dolls and Holiday decorations.

She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her loving husband of 46 years, Ben Erskins, a son Gary Erskins, and her two sisters Ruth Wafer and Maurine Hale.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Ray Erskins, Rodney Erskins and wife Kathy, and Gary’s wife, Judy Erskins.  Her grandchildren Kristina Fisher and husband Gary, Ryan Erskins and wife Aimee, Holly Erskins and partner Steve Clark, Angie Erskins, Jay Erskins and wife Erica.  In addition she leaves her seven great grandchildren Gillian Fisher, Blake Fisher,  Drew Erskins, Benjamin Erskins, Kaylyn Erskins, Kirsten Erskins, and Kinley Erskins.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation for Gladys will be held Wednesday April 18, 2018 from 10AM-12PM at Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas. A graveside service will be held 2PM Wednesday in Moss Hill Cemetery, Moss Hill, Texas. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Magnolia Place Health Care for their compassion and support over the past eleven years.
