Harvey Charles Williams

February 10, 2018 ~ January 31, 2018

Harvey Charles Williams age 71 of Liberty passed away Wednesday January 31, 2018 in Houston, Texas.  Harvey was born December 19, 1946 in Liberty, Texas to Oscar and Odelia Williams of Ames, Texas. He was baptized at Our Mother of Mercy Church, where he attended Catholic School and served as altar boy. He started playing baseball as a left handed pitcher and he excelled. In the early 90’s he attended Maranatha / Cornerstone Church for several years. For the past several years he was a faithful member of the Valley Community Church. He worked construction for Brown and Root and Brooks Concrete until his retirement. He met the love of his life Alice Fay Julius at West Liberty High School and they married March 11, 1968. Together they raised three daughters Jeanette, Deanna, and Yvonne. After Yvonne’s death in 1993 they became parents to her children Melanie and Kenneth. He was a fun loving, free spirited, people person, with lots of wisdom. To know Harvey was to love him, always talking and smiling. He and Fay did a lot of traveling over the years and would frequently drive to Lake Charles just to eat crabs. Harvey was drafted and served in Vietnam. Those memories of war were etched in his mind forever. Yet he maintained his happy place. Perhaps the only thing he loved as much as his family was football in particular the Pittsburgh Steelers. Probably one of their original fans, he could be spotted on a daily basis wearing their gear. His blood ran black & gold. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Odelia Williams, brothers John and Oscar Williams, and a sister Wilma Williams, and his baby girl Angela Yvonne Williams. Cherishing his memory is his wife of almost fifty years Fay Williams of Liberty, daughters Jeanette Davis (Eric) of Liberty, Deanna Mingo (Torron) of Houston, Grandchildren Stephanie Abbot (Quintrell) of Baton Rouge, LA, Melanie Morris of Liberty, Kenneth Simmons (Zana) of Liberty, Marcus Scott (Mara) of Dayton, Amber Scott of Liberty, DeAngela and Torron Jr. Mingo of Houston, as well as a great grandchild Peyton. He also leaves his sisters Linda Ashley (Jordan) of Houston, and Thereasa Sterling of Houston, brothers Garry Williams of Houston, Valentino Williams of Ames, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
