Haywood S. Cress, age 95 of Liberty, TX passed away January 4, 2018 in Humble, TX.  Haywood was born January 1, 1923 in Liberty, TX, son of the late John Henry Cress and Alva Haywood Cress.  He graduated from Liberty High School in 1942.  Shortly after graduation from school, Haywood entered the US Navy in 1942 and served his country until March of 1946.  While serving in the Navy, Haywood was an Aviation Machinist.  After completing his tour in the Navy, Haywood started to work for Schlumberger and worked for that company for thirty plus years as a Senior Operator before retiring.  Haywood was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as well as a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #3201.  In his spare time, Haywood and his late wife Leatha, loved to square dance.  He will be missed by all.

Haywood was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Leatha Cress, brothers; James Lee Cress, Rayburn Cress, sisters; Cynthia Cress Boudreaux, Adeline Cress Koenig and Marceline Cress Boudreaux.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory, nieces; Addie Lou Wright and husband Richard, Evelyn Sellers, nephews; Melvin Cockran, Raymond Boudreaux, Gary Boudreaux, great-nephews; Kenny Simmons and wife Teresa, Tommy Simmons, Richard Wright and wife Jackie, great-nieces; Donna Joiner and husband Harvey, Cynthia Koenig and husband Greg, stepchildren; Donald LaCour and wife patsy, Bill LaCour, Steve LaCour and wife Pat, Cecelia Beasley and husband Richard, seventeen grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren, and numerous other great-nieces and great-nephews.
