Retha “Puggy” Jean Stockholm, 93, of Liberty, Texas, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in Liberty. She was born on October 19, 1930, in Kirbyville, Texas. She was the cherished daughter of the late Robert E. and Erie Gillespie Wall. Retha, affectionately known as “Puggy,” attended South Park High School in Beaumont, where she was a spirited Greenie, active in the pep squad and basketball team.
Puggy’s devotion to her faith was unwavering. She was a dedicated member of Heights Baptist Church in Liberty, where she shared her beautiful voice as a former choir member and faithfully attended Sunday school.
Puggy’s kindness and generosity were evident throughout her life. In her younger years in Kirbyville, she was an enthusiastic barrel racer and found joy in country and western dancing and jitterbugging. She also had a creative passion for drawing, coloring, and crafting paper dolls.
Puggy leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Lyndon Doyle and wife Konnie, Larry Doyle and wife Melanie, Lonnie Doyle and wife Sandra, Paula Spillman and husband Richard “Dick,” Earl “Bubba” Tew and wife Kathie, Suzanne Simmons, Erie “EJ” Courville, Robert “Bobby” Wall and wife Betty, and Eugene “Gene” Wall and wife Lynda. Additionally, she is survived by numerous adoring great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service honoring Puggy’s remarkable life will be held at Heights Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas, at a later date.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, memorial contributions may be mad in Jean’s honor to Heights Baptist Church, 2401 Jefferson Drive, Liberty, Texas 77575.
