John Wade Fontenot, 58, of Raywood, Texas passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at Kingwood Hospital. John Wade was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on August 22, 1961 to parents Chester and Irma Fontenot.

John Wade graduated from Hull-Daisetta high-school in 1979. After high-school, John was drafted to Major League Baseball. Ultimately, he decided he wanted to stay close to his parents and siblings. He declined MLB’s offer but his love of baseball remained throughout his life. He worked in Research and Development for Exxon for most of his career, and was a successful entrepreneur later in his career journey. John would often work seven days a week. He was known for having a strong work ethic. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood. He loved fast cars, and was always up for a little friendly competition. Corvettes and Trans Am being a couple of his favorites.

John was a good, loyal man, passionate about the things that he loved. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his nieces and nephews. A selfless man by nature, he would give you the shirt off his back. John was intelligent, independent, admirable, loving and head strong. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John was proceeded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents; sister Cathy Ann Monterrosa; brother Kirk Fontenot and wife Teresa; nieces Erica Johnson and husband Nicholas, Hannah Fontenot; nephews Kirk Brandon Fontenot, Christopher Monterrosa; great nephew Maximiliano Johnson; great niece Everly Noel Fontenot and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9-10am on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 3730 FM 160 North Raywood, Texas 77582. Rosary begins at 10am. Funeral Mass will begin at 11am. Burial and committal will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
