Tribute

Mary Katherine Perry of Liberty, Texas passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 at the age of 93.  Mary Katherine was born on February 14th, 1925 in Kirbyville, Texas to George and Marietta Willis.  Mary Katherine and her parents moved to Houston during her adolescence where she graduated from Lamar High School.

After high school she met Royal Henderson Perry who she married in 1942 prior to his deployment to the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Army in WWII.  Upon his return from service they made their home in College Station where Henderson, “Henkie” to his friends, received his doctorate in veterinary medicine.  Mary Katherine worked in the administrative offices of Texas A&M during their years in College Station and became a loyal Aggie fan.  After college the young couple made their home in Liberty, Texas where they opened their veterinarian clinic on Main Street and began their long careers of caring for the pets and livestock of the families of Liberty County.  Mary Katherine was a dedicated member of the Liberty County A&M Mothers Club and served a term as treasurer of the Federation of Texas A&M Mothers Club. She rarely missed an Aggie home game at Kyle Field.  She and the family attended the United Methodist Church, and she was a well-known member of the local community who enjoyed saying hello to neighbors and their pets on her morning walks.  She will be missed by old friends and family alike.

Mary Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 65 years, Dr. R. H. Perry.  She is survived by her sons Jerry Perry and wife Cathy, Jim Perry; and daughters Kathy Richardson and husband David, Kris Peck and husband James; grandchildren Jerry Jr., Angie, Jay, and Nicki as well as numerous great grandchildren.
