Morris Gaylord Shanks, 88, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, in Conroe, Texas. He was born in Kilgore, Texas, on January 3, 1936, to the late Ernest Floyd Shanks and Margaret Garrett Goodson. Morris graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, in Baytown, Texas. He made his career as a Mechanical Engineer, working in the oil and gas industry for Hydril Company until retiring.
Morris pursued many interests, some of which included his love for the outdoors. In his free time, he would go fishing, hunting or could be found tinkering in his shop on various projects. He really enjoyed the simple things in life.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife of forty-two years Sharon Shanks. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his children Mark and wife Tina Shanks, Margaret and husband Phillip Parliament, and Jason and wife Yaneth Shanks; his grandchildren Lauren Shanks, Brenna Huffman, Kinsey Shanks, Paige Parliament, Paxton Parliament, and Kimberly Gonzalez; his brother Earl Shanks and wife Clarice; along with many other loving relatives and friends.
A graveside service honoring Morris will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, beginning at 11am, in Cooke Memorial Cemetery.
