Morris Richard “Rick” Spivey, 71, of Liberty, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Houston, Texas. He was born on August 18, 1952, in Houston, Texas, to the late Morris James and Margie Louise Taylor Spivey. Rick graduated from MacArther High School, in Houston, class of 1970. He was a member of Freedom Church in Liberty. Rick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He spent his career in the oil and gas industry as a machinist.

Rick pursued many interests, some of which included fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing golf and was very good at it. Rick enjoyed the simple things in life, like staying home and spending time with his family. He was a patient and mellow man, never quick to anger. Rick was honest no matter the situation. Until his retirement, he was extremely hardworking, always making sure that his family had everything they needed or wanted. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Terry Spivey; and his grandson Brandon Moody. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his beloved wife Barbara Spivey of Liberty; his daughter Lisa Hagebusch and husband Eric of Conroe; his bonus children Rebecca May and husband Dwayne of Huffman, Chrissy Hart Moody and husband Ricky of Liberty, and Shane Owens and wife Pride of Old River-Winfree; his grandchildren Allie and Riley Hagebusch both of Conroe, Taryn Sims and husband Bo of Huffman, Cameron May and wife Ashley of Huffman, Ashley Brown and fiancé Jake of Dayton, Tegan Erwin and fiancé Bill of Dayton, Richie Lambert of Liberty, Jamie Moody Seymour and husband Trey of Baytown, Amber Durham and husband Cody of Mont Belvieu, Kailey Best and wife Brittany of League City, Elizabeth Logue and husband Daniel of Crosby, and Rhiannon Clifton and fiancé Tyler of Cove; his great-grandchildren Maddy, Maddox, Tucker, Mallorie, Kacey, McKenna, Jace, Sarah, Tyler, Eli, Caleb, Caylynn, and Brennan; his sisters Nancy Frederick of Conroe and Cheryl Spivey of Trinity; his numerous nieces and nephews; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Eric Hagebusch, Shane Owens, Ricky Moody, Jake Spring, Bill Webb, and Richie Lambert.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 11 am, on Friday, October 27, 2023, in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street, Liberty, Texas, 77575. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12 pm, at the funeral home with Bro. Jason Cowart officiating. A graveside service and committal will follow in Palms Memorial Park, 2421 HWY 146 S., Dayton, Texas, 77535.
