Richard Allen Brown

October 21, 1957 ~ October 6, 2017 (age 59) 59 Years Old


Richard Allen Brown “Rick” of Dayton, passed away at home on Friday, October 6, 2017, surrounded by family.  Rick was born on October 21, 1957, in Orange, Texas, to the late Jimmy and Gerry Brown.  He was a graduate of Dayton High School and began a career at ExxonMobil,  retiring in 2013 after 34 years of service.

He married Sharon Roeder Brown, of Liberty, Texas.  Together they lived a life based on faith and family.  He enjoyed being outdoors hunting or fishing and spending precious time with family and friends.  He is loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Becky Bowman; in-laws Joe and Helen Roeder.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 38 years, Sharon Brown of Dayton; daughters Emily Brown Grones and son-in-law, Randy of San Antonio and Amy Brown of Austin; grandchildren, Ella and Jack Grones; brother, Chris Brown; sister-in-law Joan Hill and husband Daryl, and sister-in-law Rita Chessher and husband Jerry.  Rick is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends from near and far. 

The family wishes to thank friends, parishioners and clergy who offered their many prayers and made kind visits during his illness. 

Rosary will be at Immaculate Conception Church, 411 Milam, Liberty, Texas at 5:30 pm on Monday, October 9, 2017, with visitation following from 6:00-8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church with interment at the Catholic Cemetery, Grand Street at Bowie Street in Liberty, Texas.  Arrangements are under the direction of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 North Travis, Liberty, TX.

Pallbearers are Josh Brown, Mark Chessher, Bob Edwards, Jeff Gregory, David Harmon and Jaime Harvey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the non-profit organizations: Marnie Rose Foundation/5300 N. Braeswood Blvd., #4-350/Houston, Texas 77096 or Catholic Cemetery Association of Liberty Texas/P. O. Box 10225/Liberty, Texas 77575.
