Shirley Ann (Bennett) Hubley

January 13, 1936 ~ October 16, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Shirley Ann Bennett Hubley (81) of Devers was called Home to be with her Lord on Monday October 16, 2017 with her beloved family by her side. Shirley was born in Liberty, Texas on January 13, 1936.  Her family lived in the Stowell area until Shirley was eleven years old and then they moved to Devers where she completed Junior High School.  She then attended Liberty High School and graduated in 1954.  Shirley married the love of her life, Londel Hubley in 1955.  Shirley and Londel later moved to the Mont Belvieu area where they lived for 30 years and all of their children attended and graduated from the Barbers Hill Schools.  They returned to Devers in 1993 where they lived the remainder of their lives.  Shirley was a member of First Baptist Church of Devers.  She enjoyed quilting, reading, and watching movies with her favorite being, “Gone with the Wind.”  Truly, one of God’s Angels here on earth, she will be remembered for her sweet spirit and her kind, and loving ways.

In 1998, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Londel Hubley. His sudden death was very difficult on Shirley yet she remained steadfast and strong as the matriarch of the family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those that remain behind. Her legacy will always be remembered not only as a great friend but also as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved to spend the holidays with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as a granddaughter Anne Elizabeth Hubley. She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son Mike Hubley and wife Julie of Devers, daughters Cheryl Mason of Humble and Donna Harrison of Highlands. In addition, she leaves a brother Donald A. Bennett Jr. and wife Janice of Louisiana, seven grandchildren: Christina Whitaker (Will); Scott Hubley (Jennifer); Candace Burmaster (Kolby); Rebecca Jones (Jon-Michael); Josh Mason (Lori); Brittany Mason; Jennifer Dopp as well as 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends . She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. A special thank you goes out to Belinda Varner, Joy Rayon, Maria Miranda and the great nurses at Angel’s Above Us.
