Virgil Lee Herbert

Virgil Lee Herbert, 85, of Liberty, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at his residence in Spring, Texas. He was born on September 1, 1933 to Robert Edward Lee Herbert and Mary Ann Ziegelt Herbert.

In 1951, Virgil joined the United States Navy. He served his country proudly in the Korean War. After he was honorably discharged from the service he worked for over forty years as a Tow Truck Driver. He had a few jobs in-between but he always came back to wrecker service. He enjoyed the job and helping people. Virgil loved his family, friends and neighbors. He was an old soul and had a wonderful sense of humor. He liked to fish. In his spare time, Virgil enjoyed watching the Astros play and tinkering around on his lawn mower. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lucy Herbert; son Terry Herbert; grandson Trey William White and sister Dorothy Mae McMahan. He leaves behind to cherish his memory daughters Barbara A. Benavides and husband John, Judy Lynn Sullivan; son Robert Eugene Herbert; sister Marylee Marek; granddaughters Kelly Richardson, Jennifer McBride and husband Draper, Cassie Murphy and husband James; grandsons Brian White, Dylan Herbert, Ken Herbert and wife Stefanie. In addition he leaves behind his dog Suzie and numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Allen Tenorio, Lorenzo Tenorio, Ken Herbert, Mark Cooke and Jeff Sullivan. Honorary Pallbearer is Bill Harlan.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1pm-2pm on Saturday, March 9, 2019 in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2pm in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service. A graveside service will immediately follow in Fairlawn Memorial Cemetery in Liberty.
