Alfred Joseph Fontenot Sr, age 79 of Raywood, TX, passed away December 15, 2017 in Liberty, TX.  Alfred was born November 1, 1938 in Liberty, TX, son of the late David and Louise Melonson Fontenot.  Alfred graduated from Woodson High School and was a professional race horse trainer for fifty plus years.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood as well as the Horseman Association for over fifty years.  Alfred served on the school board of Hull-Daisetta for eight plus years and was very involved in his children and grandchildren’s sports activity.  He was a loving son, brother, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He will be missed by all.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Ray Fontenot, Ragis Fontenot, Joe Fontenot, John Fontenot, David Fontenot Jr, Wallace Fontenot and great-granddaughter; Shaelynn Tanner.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty-five years; Jeanette Fontenot, son; Alfred Fontenot Jr and wife Janie, daughters; Kimberly Fontenot Tanner and husband Wes, Dymphel Dee Fontenot, sister; Shirley Curette, brother; Desilva Fontenot, grandchildren; Colton Anderson, Mia Fontenot, Lyla Fontenot, Chris Tanner, Candace Elliott, Heather tanner, Kyle Tanner, Angela Noble, A.J. Johnson and seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
