I have fond memories of him having dinner with us once a year when my Dad, Troy Krenek, taught Agriculture at Garwood High School. Mr. Jobes was so respected by my Dad.

Hope no one gets upset with me, but here is a true story about Don I posted on facebook a few years ago:
Ok, the Don Jobe story, we always took Cy-Fair bulls and horses to Waller County rodeo. After the rodeo was over we had to make multiple trips to take the stock back to Cy-Fair, Don and I were taking a load of horses. The horses unloaded fast as usual, except for one, the famous one-eyed hell, he would not get off the truck. After several tries with "would you please exit the back gate"(you don't really believe this do you), Don was upset(safe word), for those of you who did not know or don't remember he liked the ranger style belts, he took that to a higher level cause he liked the ones with a ruby tip, a nice large ruby. We both had our belts off trying to show him the way(so to speak), when the worst thing (maybe not) that could happen did happen, yep, he lost the tip off the belt(with the ruby), now I could say he was a little upset(duh), but he was livid and one-eyed hell seemed to delight that Don was mad(not accurate) and refused to get off, I found one of those things we tested in ag(you know with batteries in it and the two prongs on one end). Caught one-eyed hell where he was not appreciative, but he exited. We looked that night and the next day, to no avail, so some where over by the unloading chute(maybe not close to it, figuring trajectory and velocity) there is still a ruby tip off of a nice belt. Had to leave the last sentence off now(You see Don ask him and I'll bet he don't smile when he replies.).
